xianyikang-saraus 23rd birthday!!

28 oct- the big day for our mother dinosaur, xianyikang-saraus!!! the day started by all of us planning together already, that we will pretend we forget her birthday (like always haha!) and didnt wish her anything.

it all started on 27oct, when jean and dawny planned everything nicely and coordinated everything with the brilliant sister of xian, kangzhini. they shall all plan to surprise xian at 8. they were to sneak into the house from the back and go bounce on xian and present her with a song.

28 oct. it was kinda last minute preparing for all the stuff, but nevertheless, the trio- jean, dawny, becky, got down to work immediately. they were seriously rushing for time. it was so so so bad and time wasnt on their side at all. jean was totally down with a crazy insane migrain cos of all the blood rushing up to her brain and adrenaline pumping way too much. it was just simply a race against time. had to finish baking a cake, finish making xian's file, and also, to hunt down for xian's ds lite cover.

and so, the process of cake (green tea) baking begins (and please hor, the pictures say it all. its total hygienic!!)...

mix them all up nicely! eh wait! jean had a part in this too! she's in charge of pouring in the yoghurt haha! dawny stole her job away when jean was busy taking photos.

and now the cake is in the oven and its rising way big time...

tada! the cake without the nice glazing yet. erm, looks... erm... weird?

master chef becky! shes like the overall in charge for baking lar. kao jean and dawny? work will never ever be done and it will be totally inedible HAHA!! no lar joking they still make and feed you people with nice food ok!!

after the cake, its down to making xian's file. horendously messy.

and so, they finished everything real late. suppose to meet at 745 to rehearse the song presentation, but they left pasir ris at 745 >.- anyways, at this point of time, the bunch of people at tanah merah were heading towards xians house to hide at the back. there was a slight change of plan which allowed the delay caused by jean, dawny and becky>.- xian had to go out for dinner and will only be back around 9. that was from ni.

but little did they know that they came home way earlier than expected. jean received the signal from ni at about 815 and they were still on their way to xians house. and the whole bunch of people were still camping out behind xian's house, silent as a mouse. had to rely on ni to cause some delay and diversion.

and finally, they arrived at xian's house. coincidentally, xian was showering. took the chance to run through the song presentation and how they were going about to sneak up on xian. and so, the ultimate final signal came from ni, 'ok u all can come up in 3min time!!=)'. counted down, and they crept in silently. everything was perfect and according to plan. xian didnt suspect a thing...

and then,

everything was ruined by dawnys and beckys laughter!! oh wells, cant put the blame on them entirely. jean and jamesy tan were at fault too. couldnt get the timing right to start X((

heres the final look of the cake with the 4 pretty, little cute dinosaurs. and no xian, dont be so happy cos there's only 2 candles. its because retarded jean and dawny only bought like 12 candles>.-

after that, all of us went down for the cake. this was where xian took out here 'lovely' green tea cake that she made.

and then, xian started looking through the file which the trio had a hard time collating...

and after loads of crapping, its time for photos and more photos!!

hey guys! thought i will share a little something that i guess its gonna help everyone. i modified it a little into my version. so yups. for those who are having Os and As, joshua, dawny, becky, and jean (>.-), hang on!! its gonna be over soon! and for everyone else, hang on in whatever situations you are faced with and dont let go of the cross and jesus!!! jia yous everyone!

its human nature to be competitive, whether you show it or not. for the more expressive ones, you really show how determined you are to beat people at whatever and wherever you think its a competition, a rat race. the most evident on i guess is in studies. you have people pitting yourselves and comparing yourselves with others. after you get your results, you will wanna go around asking how others did. c'mon, be honest to yourselves. sometimes you dont really feel like going around to ask peoples results and compare them, but deep down, really deep inside, you wanna know where you stand. face it people. and in sports, you will work your butt off and train non stop despite of injuries (some familiar huh?) so that you will get a chance to play, or even win the cup. face it, its our nature to be competitive, and its not our fault.

im not saying being competitive isnt good. being competitive is in fact good. why? cos we dont wanna lose to people, and thus, we hang onto whatever we are competing in. we dont wanna give up, we dont wanna give in. we do not want to lose. get a life! who likes losing?! if we dont do well in our studies, we will work really hard and make sure we get something decent, or best still, own everyone. admit it people. we dont wanna lose. so we hang on and do not let go of that whatever that we are competing in. thats the hard truth, whether you wanna accept it or not.

hanging onto something is a struggle. its never easy. we gotta work really hard for it. we gotta sacrifice our sleep, our eating time, our play time, etc just to sit there and study. and it isnt like studyings really a fun thing to do. theres so many more enjoyable things to do rather than sitting down, rotting and staring at small little words and numbers and cracking your brain. you could have just went out cycling or at the beach playing with your friends. but no, you chose to be in this struggle, to hang on, so that you will emerge victorious at the end of this race. but sometimes, we get distracted, we get tempted. we will move off course and out of our study plans. lets just say we intend to take a SHORT break cos my eyes are really getting tired. so i switch on the tv, and tell myself, probably, 15minutes. or for some of you even, i'll go online for awhile, 30minutes. but seriously, how many of you actually stick to that 15 or 30minutes that you gave yourselves? i wont be surprise if you're out there for a few hours, or facebooking or msning for hours. ouch, did i strike? im speaking to humans, am i not haha!

so the scenarios this: all of us are drowning in water. and jesus came to pick us all up. but sometimes, we take our focus away, and we start sinking again. but if we hang onto him, hes gonna bring us up and through this storm. in other words, in whatever we are facing, hang on, dont give up, and we WILL prevail. WE WILL PREVAIL. learn to hang on and not let go people!

and for jesus' disciplers, dont think life is gonna be smooth just because youre gods children. who says we'll have special treatments? in fact, we're gonna be treated worse off than other people. the bible says that being a disciple aint gonna be easy. its gonna cost us severely. the worlds gonna hate us, the devils gonna hate us, hes gonna do everything he can to flip our boats upside down. the truth is, we wrestle a lot with the stuff thats going on with life. but what did god say? hang on no matter what UNTIL the light breaks through the darkness!! Jacob fought through the night, UNTIL the light appeared when the fight finally stopped. until we see something changed, something turning into our favour, dont give up, dont stop hanging on! in v26, jacob had the upper hand, he demands to be blessed before hes gonna let go of his grip on the man (which was actually god). we gotta stand firm in the solid rock!! darkness is only for a season, it has a lifespan. when light comes, its a dawn of a NEW DAY=))

hang on until we're faced with our own weakness. we'll keep studying and studying and studying. and then, *ting (light bulb appears)! we know where we gona wrong, whats our weak areas. and then what do we do? we get down to getting rid of these weaknesses! likewise, thats what happened to jacob. he has lost his identity. he didnt know who he was anymore. his life was screwed. but then, god made him realise his weakness. he asks for jacobs name. c'mon! its not like god doesnt know the answer! the god who created heaven and earth and everything doesnt know jacobs name? are you kidding me? so what was his purpose? god made jacob realise where his faults lies. he made him confess it. and when we recognise our weaknesses, things begin to change. we start doing better and make sure we dont commit the same mistakes in our exams. the question is, are we willing to face ourselves, the imperfect us, our sinful nature, our hidden lives, and confess it?

hang on until something shifts which cause us to walk differently, to cause us to lead a different lifestyle FOREVER. ever tried studying real hard when people said you couldnt make it? and in the end, you really came up with good results and probably say enter JC instead of like poly or ite or something? look, your lifes different. what if you just gave up studying and rotted and died? you'll probably end up being some toilet cleaner or road sweeper (like what shaun always loves to say). but look, youre now like going onto university, and who knows if youre gonna become the worlds greatest teacher, lawyer, doctor, or whatever? in v25 and 31, jacob was changed and god made that mark of change evident- he made him a limp. from then on, jacob walked differently. and god didnt bother healing him. why you ask? it was a reminder of his dependancy to god. it didnt just serve as a reminder for him, but it was evidence to others too. when people saw him limping, they will ask, what happened to you? and tada! hes presented with an opportunity to tell of what god has done for and in him. we dont want just a touch from god, we want a shift, a change from god. difference? touch is momentarily. a change has an eternal impact on us. thats the difference. we will then become dependent on god and he becomes our direction.

"Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" -Galatians 3:3

and to end off, continue hanging on even after that shift has taken place=)

hey guys!! here's an update for upcoming net event! yes, OUR ex- net!!! haha!! we'll be having another one of the crazy xmas party this year again, at jean's house again!! tentatively, on 19th december, friday. so probably we'll have net together or something along the lines of that kiex. its gonna be fun, fun, fun, and more fun! so everyone, please book your calenders!! as for people like shaun, try to escape from camp!! and OLD people like xian and shenzhi, take early leaves or skip course!! haha!!

some highlights for this year (well, it isnt exactly planned yet, but jeans just trying to make them up=D):

- there will be NO lvp VS manu match this year!! so dont expect crazy people like darren and samuel tan to just crash in and dance around the house!! its gonna be peaceful! HAHA!! and anyways, if there was a lvp VS manu match, lvp would win again=)

- big time wii and ps2 gaming session again!!!

- probably play monopoly, game of life, twister, taboo, etc, all the way into the morning!!!

- talk crap like non stop with everyone! lovely!

- and probably, if anyone comes up with something retarded, you MIGHT see jean's crazy re-enactment of whacking her own head with a chair >.- (although thats unlikely to happen, sorry to disappoint you shaun!)

- sleeping around the house like cockroaches again! this time, no way is xian and cleone gonna get my nice nice room and beds to sleep in! all on the floor and be like cockroaches!

- and not forgetting FOOD!!! and PRESENTS!!!! and bday celebrations!! pst pst*

- and probably, crazy idea by me and dawn, make joshua perform for us! cos jean has piano at home already! and depending on whether i get drums already, we can jam at my house and bring the whole pasir ris down!!!

sorry peeps! was suppose to post these pictures long long long ago!! but oh wells, studying drives people crazy!! jeans slacking now cos she just finished a hectic crazy week of prelims! self declared the night to rest haha! but still theres another week to go! RAH! anyways, think almost everyone who's schooling is having their exams now? except the zai poly kids. so keep everyone in praying! we're all gonna excel and honour and glorify god kiex peeps!!

after that me, becky, cliff, joshua, jonathan and chie hui went to sent shaun off. the photos' with dawny. will get it from her and upload soon i guess. hopefully she reads like this post and uploads the photos. cos she deleted her msn and its quite impossible for her to send me the photos! boo!

then on sunday we went for crazy lunch. almost everyone was there too! at new york new york after morning service. will post the hilarious pictures when i have the time to upload. did stupid stuff like making our own candy floss which proved to be a big time failure, especially for cliff. cos he wanted to make a really huge one, plus with some kinda shape carved in it. but in the end, all the candy floss just drops back into the machine and he wa left with something really miserable! but anyways, had a good time. we shall go out and makan soon again! yays!

2 more days to the meeting of our new nets. be excited everyone! for dawn's side, almost everyone knows each other and hardly anyone moved out. so enjoy! for my ex- net members, enjoy your new nets and do try to make it a point to attend nets and make new friends and grow in the Lord like you have never done and experienced before! but remember, all your friends that you have made in your ex- nets are still there always for ya'll. dont forget us and come talk to us!!! see ya'll around and God bless<3

oh wells, our nets are gonna split for good this time. and we'll all go our separate ways from next week onwards. but whatever the case, we'll still be great friends right everyone! hoping that all of you will fit into your respective new nets, attend nets, and make some real great friends like you did with this net! oh wells.

anyways, today was the last net rally together as a net. who those who came, we had great fun. great word from the Lord, great dinner, great fun playing together and laughing like crazy. we were like a bunch of maniacs sitting at one corner of the area! for those who didnt come, you missed out a great deal, like cliff's crazy ideas and doings, and everyone's unglamness! well, you've got the photos and videos here to see for yourself! i'll upload the vids again once its completed uploading onto youtube. but i figured the vids are ultimately huge in size and it takes forever to upload... meanwhile, pictures tell a thousand words...

well well, we had BOTAK JONES!!! and there's xian with the food and cleone's all anxious to get started...

his concert on 250608, wednesday! success! joshua played really well. too bad for those who missed it! cos it was really nice and he was really zai! really wasted for xian cos she had to work OT last minute.. haiz. and that reminds me, xian and shenzhi are old people entering into our singapore workforce already! a round of appaluase for them! these are wei da people already kiex... contributing to the economy...

yups, so anyways, dawn, ezekiel and jean(!!) were there to support joshua! not forgetting jonathan too! didnt get to video and record his really zai performance. but dawn took a few snap shoots here and there. got really cool photos with her cos you can only see joshua's face with major concentration. will get her to post it here too! so here's the only photo, which is a little dark cos we forgot about flash, that i've got! den shared abit abt Prayer. we read this short lil extract from one of my fav books.

Prayer

When Aslan sends Digory and Polly on the back of the flying horse Fledge in quest of the silver apple, they stop for the night in a valley in the heart of the mountains. The children are hungry, and Digory wonders why no arrangement was made for their meals.

“I’m sure Aslan would have, if you’d asked him,” said Fledge.
“Wouldn’t he knows without being asked?” said Polly.
“I’veno doubt he would,” said the Horse… “But I’ve a sort of idea he likes to be asked.”

It’s as if Fledge has read the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount: “For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask of Him.”

If God knows our needs before we ask, why does he want us to ask. I can see two reasons. First, it’s a matter of alignment. God wants us to want what he knows we should have. He wants out mind to get in step with his and recognize our needs through his perspective. Out prayers show how closely we are aligned – or not. Second, God wants us to pray for what he wants to give so we will acknowledge him as the source of all we have. Prayer for our needs expresses our awareness of our continual dependence on him. An the more we pray and see how prayers are answered, including which are answered, which are not, the closer we come to the mind of God and learn to blend our wills with his.

ok n best part. even worship! has always been a struggle. cause i get seriously rly scared 2 play e guitar durin worship, my left hand will grasp e neck rly tightly. but amelia's been so great with helpin with e singing through simple things like helpin e others know when to come in wen they're leadin worship.

people are complaining how come our net blog isn't updated!! haha!! okok, me shall post some stuff then=)

firstly, yesterday's joke of the day. or it can remain joke of the day for quite some time. there's a long story behind it, but yes! as you have guessed, its from our master shakespear cliff tan!!

we were having big time combine simei-siglap net at xian's house. so there was this instance when cliff went to the toilet. then shenzhi wanted to go toilet too. and she switched on (in her perception) the lights when actually, she was switching off the lights. i know it sounds confusing, but the thing is, shenzhi switched off cliff's toilet lights. and when cliff came out, he said this really cliff thing, "i thought it was judgement day." jean, becky, sarah, and shenzhi were the people who heard it and they laughed like madness. then after that, cliff said, "eh, this is serious la. when you pee and judgement day comes, its scary." its so cliff!!

The combined youth net rally 2 weeks ago was a blast! Pastor Paul Chase preached a brutually honest message, encouraging us to stand firm in our faith and not to fall into different temptations that we are struggling with. TONS of people turned up! There were about 420++ of us squeezing at yishun and the best part was... FREEEEEE SUBWAY! haha so here are some pics from the R.O.W. =)

Boss yixian suggested i publish my testimonies on the net blog so i'll will haha... so honoured rite! i type them here instead of my own blog haha!

1. My buddy next to me got his rifle stunned (or stolen by the sergents) twice and almost tio a 3rd time when a sergent tried to backstab him thru the forest during field camp. the punishment for a single stun is usually one confinement so i really wanna thank god that somehow i never kenna aim. =D

2. I really wanna thank God for excellent commanders during BMT. the other 3 platoon commanders sometimes can have unreleastic demands or issue harsh punishments. our sir and sergents were always far in giving out punishments and almost never ever used their rank in a condescending or abusive way.

3. Most importantly, i wanna thank God for insulating but not isolating me. I had bunkmates that were as secular as secular can be. the topics they talked about is like R21 and their language more colourful than the spectrum of the rainbow. wanna thank god for helping me stand my ground and not compromising on my values. my nickname was "holy sh**". holy is holy and sh** was to make sure they dun feel unfortable if they dun swear haha... jkjk...

4. also wanna thank god for being with me as i did stuff i never knew i'd do before... like a 24km march with full battle order or an unprecedented 51 sit ups during IPPT retest... gosh i never tot i could do such things! but the thing that i was most fearful of was a one story high ramp in the SOC (Standard Obstacle Course). God gave me the courage to clear it, abeit on the 2nd try. =D

5. lastly, thank god for good frens who encouraged me and helped me out when i was as blur and lost going into BMT. My cousin who is a sergeant took care of me by passing me stuff i needed urgently as well as ppl like henry and xian who i could complain to and sulk haha...

yups that's all i can think of for now, and both my hands' bones hurt from so much typing... boy its been sometime since i typed so much

Oh man! This is a little bit belated post, supposed to talk about what my prof shared during school ermmm last year but HMMMM paisey ah! haha

ok, so the topic she was speaking about is the Christian's role in the public square. The following is a summary of what she shared.

The Christian's Role in the Public Square
Friend of God
Who are friends of God? Friends of God know God's heart, John 15. They are in essence disciples of Christ. The difference between disciples and converts is the cost of disciplehood, Luke 14. Jesus may not have favourites but He did have intimates like John.

Being Successful
Success in life is determined by how intimate we are with God and how much we discover our destiny in this world. It is like we started by having a meeting with God in heaven. God tells us our life mission on earth and assigns tasks to us. But when we come to earth we forget what we were told to do. And thus we are supposed to use the rest of life to figure out what it is.

Religion and State
Should we separate religion and state? It is not unconstitutional for religion to be separated from state. Singpore has a managed democracy. Being secular does not mean that we are earthly or worldly but secularism provides a public square as a forum for competing faiths. Faith is actually what we believe in and what we don’t believe in. So can a Christian talk abt government and politics? Yes. And why not? The popular assumption why this is wrong is because religion = prejudice = wrong. But this is in practice the same as an atheist.

In context of the s 377A debate:
Should Christians be compassionate about gays? What does it mean to have compassion? Do we really know the bible? Compassion is love which involves telling the truth and exposing the sin. It is not only exposing the sin but also to make hope obvious to the person.
The hard thing about being a Christian is that we have a conscience and we cannot retaliate if we have to. There are 2 schools of thoughts about law. 1- harm principal. All man should be free. 2- social function of law. Law is just a mechanism to create a sense of law and order.

It is possible for us to disqualify ourselves from God's plan:
Judges 7:3 Gideon. First thing that disqualifies ourselves is the FEAR of man, future etc. we disqualify ourselves from being used by God or to execute His plans.
Judges 7:5. Those who lap with the tongue and those who get down on their knees to drink – all were disqualified because they were not vigilant enough. It reflects the current situation. A lot of Christians are not watching and praying.

Book of life vs. BookSS of record
Every word, deed that we do will be called to account. Eph 6.

Some Philosophical Concpts:
3 main philosophies influence our ethics. It changes the way we do things.
Relativism – anything goes.
Humanism – man is the measure of all things. If there is no God, there is man
Materialism – physical things.

4 ungodly notions: Heterosexualism; Racism; Sexism; Economic exploitation

4 bad philosophies of the whole world may be summed up in Gen 3:4-5. The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil
1) Reincarnation: Idea that we all get second chances and we’re not being held accountable for how we’re living our lives now
2) Esotericism: Idea of hidden knowledge (eyes will be opened)
3) Pantheism: There is no difference between good and evil, between man and God
4) Relativism: Man becoming deified and how we’re the source of all morals

It is very easy to fall prey to moral depravity:
Rm 1:18-31 is our Moral Barometer. For example,
Stage 1: sexual immorality, fornication. But Christianity teaches chastity before marriage, fidelity after.
Stage 2: sexual impurity, homosexualism
Stage 3: moral anomaly. Depraved minds. Inherent ways of evil. Not only flaunt, celebrate evil. People are shameless. What happens at this stage? National sins begs national judgement.

What is our best defence then?
Christians only have 2 weapons: truth and compassion.
The fight for truth must stem out of a heart of compassion for people. Truth hurts but it will set free in the end.

HELLO!

We're like planning to have so much stuff for the holidaysssssss.

First up! We're planning to have treasure hunt @ Sentosa on 20th November. Jean, Becky and Sarah will be planning the games! If you have any ideas please do contribute! Tagboard's on like the right side. So yar. More details will be posted up soon.

We're also planning to have an early X'mas party + stayover. It'll be on the 16th to the 17th of December. Shaun, Sylvia and me will be organising it. Again if you have ideas tagboard's on the right! So please share your ideas. And the venue is not confirmed yet. Hopefully someone nice will house all of us for that 2 days x)

Thank you everyone who joined us for the BBQ! We had a fantastic array of food: chicken wings, satay, stingray, sotong, prawns (which were the most most delicious), fried rice/beehoon and chicken curry (which camouflaged itself as satay sauce haha). And thanks to andre's mother, we had home-made tasty chocolate cake and beef kabab! Look at the beef kabab below:

Even in its semi-raw form, it looks so mouth-watering! That is until we tried to cook it:

Don't know how but our chefs ended up cooking the STICK instead of the beef haha

After a while, our official photographer was too occupied with eating so didn't manage to capture more pictures of all the beautiful/handsome people who came haha

(but we still love you cleone haha)

Oh if while waiting for the prawns to cook and you get hungry, you can try eating the aluminium foil instead haha

Night Cycling 2007

So ya the net cyclist-cameraman forgot to take videos of our mad journey from tampines to yishun and then back to yishun again during most exciting circumstances... here are some videos of those that he did remember...

first up, an accident on the highway...

then we approached yishun town yayy!

and i tried to get them to entertain me but i guess they were all pretty beat from the 2h+ cycle (makes you wonder how did we take 8h to get from yishun to east coast eh?)

and two pics to finish it off... here's one of an accident between a bus and a lorry, completely sealing off the entire four lanes during our journey up to yishun for TDM. =D

1) FESTIVAL OF PRAISE
It's on the 3rd to the 5th of August at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

We're going on friday, 3/8/07 but we haven't decide on how we are going there. WE ARE MEETING FOR DINNER FIRST so if you are coming along do inform anyone of us! More details on how we're going will be posted later :D

Some of the notable events include Delirious of which Yi Xian's Martin Smith is in. So ya you have to come just to see yixian go,

Andre lives at Straford Court Lobby 4 #01-14. It's gonna be massive cause our net (SIMEI SIDE) + Esther Wee's net (Tanah Merah side) are gonna be meeting for the first time since our split. So it's another MUST come event.

It's going to be FANTASTICALLY STUPENDOUSLY WONDERFULLY fun! why? Because the speaker is from Youth Alive and he's brought a group of super zai hip-hop dancers with him.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT & TDM Videos

For those of you people who still dont know, the net has been decreeded from the powers above (i.e. Pastor Jeremy Seaward) to be too large. So the inevitable spilt into two separate nets effective June 29 Friday 12 midnight. So ya i guess the days of average net attendance of 20 will be a nice memory in time to come... The nightmare logistical problems relieved hahaha! And James shall be appointed as the new magician to entertain the Tanah Merah and Bedok Res side k? hehe...

Anyway on a brighter note! xian, andre and shaun are the representatives from our net who joined Team Dream Machine (TDM)! June 30 (Sat) was our first outing to hit the residents in force. EXAM

EXAM!! The horrible 4-letter word that plagues us for most of our school life and haunts us in our sleep. I like to think of exam as a battle, a ferocious battle that can kill us or make us. Some of us kena 'owned' (yes, I have learnt how to use this word) in battle whereas some of us 'own' the exam-monster (is this the right way to use the word?? haha)

Anyway, I was surfing and I found some tips on how to study effectively. If you're a noob at studying, go ahead, read and apply the tips!

Tips for Effective Studying -- SQ3R... It helps to understand and remember what you've read!

Step 1. "S"= Survey Before you actually read a chapter, or go over a particular section of notes, take five minutes to survey the material. Briefly check headings and subheadings in order to understand the author's organizational pattern of ideas to be discussed. Scan all visual material. Read introductory and summary paragraphs. This preview will enable you to anticipate what the chapter is about.

Step 2. "Q"= Question Create interest in the material by asking: What are the main points of the chapter? As you read, keep the question in mind and figure out the most important points. It gives you a clearly defined purpose for reading, and helps you maintain interest in the material.

Step 3. "R"= Read Read the chapter actively for meaning. Go through the paragraph before underlining, then underline key words and phrases to help you recall the main points. Be selective, you don't want to highlight non-important points or miss anything that can help your comprehension. Summarize main concepts in your own words in the margins. The more active you are in the reading process, the more you will retain.

Step 4. "R"= Recite After every few pages, close your book and recite aloud the main points to the questions you posed in step 2. Try to recall basic details as to the author's intent by putting them in your own words. Verify your answer by checking the text. If you can't remember the text, read through it again. If you don't get it now, you won't remember it for a test. Take as much time as you need to answer your questions. Don't be frustrated, this takes more time but the information will be clearer in your mind.

Step 5. "R"= Review Finally, review the chapter every so often to fix the material in your mind. Keep rereading your margin notes and underlinings. Verbalize the sequence of main ideas and supporting facts to aid retention. Numerous reviews are a lot more effective than one cramming session the night before an exam. Review once right after you've finished reading and then every couple of days. The SQ3R is time consuming at first, expect it to take ten to fifteen percent longer to read a given chapter when you first begin. Research indicates a 70%% increase in retention after two months of using the system and, eventually, a reduction in time spent preparing for exams.

Nostalgia
Here's a pic a found in my computer, taken approx 11 months ago. I still remember xian's plot to stuff whipped cream into my ears and esther's hair as part of our birthday 'celebration'. XIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I havent forgotten... =p (click on picture for the enlarged version)

A Tim Wu classic - the sound's quite bad but the fact that we made esther believe in expecting some uber powerful magic trick and seeing tim's "magic trick" is priceless. It's also noteworthy to mention that we did the same thing to yixian last sunday. Esther's the one holding the camera so you couldnt see esther reaction, it was worth a thousand dollars, well cuz i couldnt get anyone else to video when i was busy with my prata and mutharbak (or however u spell it)...

New features
So yep my sister was complaining about not being able to see the previous posts so i thought that maybe i'll try to do something about that. As a safety precaution, i saved the original coding of the blog into a notepad file. Unfortunately, i made a mistake when editing the html and used this saved version of the coding to restore to the blog. To my most wonderful excitement, the whole blog failed to load after that! YAYYYY! IT BECAME A BLANK PAGE HOORAY!

Yes yes, hahahaha... Turned out that the notepad had word wrap on and gave me a helping hand in messing up the html. So ya, i recoded the stuff as much as i could and added in a few goodies on the navigation bar (or whatever you wish to call it) on the right. So ya, now we have the recent posts, archives as well as some spiffy traffic tracking and analysis software that lets kaypohs (like me) know what word people typed into google to trample onto our blog, which net member's blog helps to generate the most traffic to the net blog, how many people visited today and blah blah blah... Go check it out yourself... =D Yup, and i'm currently working on putting up the links for all the videos we've shot, past and present hahaha! So ya, watch out for it. =D AND YES, WE NEED MORE PPL TO JOIN THE BLOG COMMITTEE! I wanna slack can? hahaha... *bugs sylvia*
